SOURCE DELI

Looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite or a coffee while in York? Want to support local businesses? Worried about the environment? Need to consider dietary restrictions and tired of not having a lot of choices?

Well, look no further! Because I have found the perfect spot for you: Source Deli.

From those behind the incredible and extremely popular Source Restaurant, Source Deli is a new place to check out while in York and has quickly become a favorite of mine. With a varied menu, great selection, prime location, and a gorgeous deli, this takeaway deli definitely deserves a visit. Or if you’re like me, a handful of visits!

Located on Jubbergate, it is in the midst of the bustling Shambles Market in the city centre. Tucked away near the stalls of other local Yorkshire merchants, Source Deli fits in harmoniously with its new neighbors.

A MENU THAT IS FULL OF OPTIONS (AND LOCALLY SOURCED)

Source Deli offers a range of meat and plant based sandwiches and salads. (The menu is basically equally split between the two, which is perfect for those with dietary preferences and restrictions). They also offer a variety of cakes, of which the vegan brownie is my absolute favorite.

There are so many drinks options to choose from. A few personal favorites are the fruit/veg smoothies and the cold brew iced coffee. With the coffee, they also offer a variety of dairy substitutes! Alongside these, there are also juices, smoothie shakes, iced teas, and hot teas as well.

The produce is locally sourced in Yorkshire and the business itself has a knowledgeable and kind staff. Walking in, they always bring a smile to my face. They greet me, ask about my day, and genuinely seem to enjoy working at Source Deli. There is an attention to detail and dedication to their craft which is extremely admirable.

ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS

With a takeaway deli, your next concern could be the boxes and cutlery. But Source Deli has got you covered! The cutlery is biodegradable, the straws are paper, and the takeaway boxes and bags are recyclable. So no worries about harming the environment while enjoying your meal!

THAT ‘IT’ FACTOR

Something that is so important for businesses in this age of social media is the location’s appearance. In a world where we document our day to day life through photos, having a strong social media presence is favourable.

It’s the ‘Instagrammable’ factor. If a location is attractive with good lighting and colorful products, then people will want to document it through a photo. This photo, once posted to social media, offers the business free exposure and honest reviews from its customers.

With its large windows, wooden counters, minimalist lighting, and blue accents, Source Deli definitely has that Instagram factor. It’s a prime place to take friends and snap a few quick pictures while visiting York or grabbing a quick bite to eat while on the go.

The food itself is also as picturesque as it is delicious. Bittersweetly, I have always eaten it before realizing that I forgot to take a photo. I guess that there’s a valid reason why I’m not a food blogger.
